Thank you to a great Jupiter FJB FAMILY You have made a real difference. .. Arlene and Brent Musburger Who have honored us by accepting the position of Honorary Co-Chairmen of our next Annual Appeal ... to succeed Shay Griese, who has done such a perfect job for FJB. Since we’d also like you to have the pleasure of meeting Brent and Arlene and their two German Shepherds, Jake and Sky, we spent a little time with all of them this month at Carlin Park (photos courtesy of Tom Mac). During this meeting, Brent commented: “I love Jupiter and am quite amazed at the growth that has taken place. At the same time I’m delighted that the beach has remained the same. I have great respect for the decisions our Town Council has made; especially the decisions that have not allowed building on the beach side of the road; that have kept the height of the buildings low; and that have supported this very special animal-friendly beach. In so doing, the Town Council has preserved a huge asset for the Town of Jupiter. There are very few 5-Star Beaches for dogs in the entire United States and any town that can preserve such a 5-Star Beach is a pretty good place to live!” One morning in 1997, while doing Beach Patrol, I approached Brent who was walking his two beautiful German Shepherds along the Jupiter Beach. Being totally illiterate when it comes to anything involving a ball, I did not realize who Brent ... “the Walter Cronkite of Sports Journalism”...was! He looked familiar, but I didn’t know why! For this my apologies, Brent. I have since been somewhat educated and now know what everyone else has known all along: that you are one of the most versatile and talented Broadcasters in this country; that you have contributed your Award-Winning Commentary on the American Sports Scene since the start of your spectacular and universally respected career in 1968. I now know that your talents are not limited to a single type ball… but span College Football & Basketball, Super Bowls, Track & Field, Tennis and Golf. What I noticed that day in 1997, though, was that you are a very nice person who cares about this community and our dog beach. That was a lucky morning for The Friends of Jupiter Beach. Brent and his lovely wife, Arlene, have been our staunch supporters ever since and throughout these many years have helped us in significant ways. Brent and Arlene moved to Jupiter in 1995 with their two sons, Blake and Scott, and their German Shepherds, Jake & Sky. The only downer I must report (and I’m hiding it here at the end)…is that although Jake loves Jupiter too, his favorite place is MONTANA! (There’s no accounting for taste, Jake...Sky is infinitely more discerning!) Anita Lankler
