A
PROCLAMATION OF THE TOWN OF JUPITER, FLORIDA
CONGRATULATING ANITA LANKLER ON RECEIVING THE
“GOVERNOR’S
POINTS OF LIGHT AWARD” AND RECOGNIZING
HER CIVIC CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE TOWN OF JUPITER
WHEREAS, the
Town of Jupiter wishes to congratulate Anita Lankler on receiving the
Governor’s Points of Light Award; and
WHEREAS, the
Town of Jupiter wishes to honor and acknowledge the outstanding contributions of
Anita Lankler, which have enriched our community; and
WHEREAS,
Anita
Lankler exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism and civic responsibility as she
has worked tirelessly to improve Jupiter beaches; and
WHEREAS,
the
Town of Jupiter Comprehensive Plan recognizes that the Jupiter beach should be
enjoyed by pets and owners alike but such activity was in danger of serious
restrictions; and
WHEREAS,
in
1994, Anita Lankler and a group of citizens stepped forward and volunteered to
work to keep Jupiter beaches accessible to all; and
WHEREAS,
these
volunteers formed the Friends of Jupiter Beach (FJB) with the mission of
protecting, cleaning and caring for the 3.5 miles of Jupiter beach and keeping
the beach “dog friendly”; and
WHEREAS,
under
Anita’s leadership, Friends of Jupiter Beach has provided immeasurable benefit
to the town, improving the quality of our beaches and community, including such
activities as monthly beach clean-ups, education programs, providing dog kiosks,
assisting Jupiter Police Department, and providing a venue for community
service; and
WHEREAS,
the
Town of Jupiter owes a debt of gratitude to Anita Lankler, for her untiring
commitment and dedication to not only Jupiter’s beaches, but the Town itself;
and
WHEREAS,
we
recognize not only Anita’s efforts, but her graciousness, generous spirit and
compassion that make Anita Lankler such a special person; and
WHEREAS,
due
to the efforts of Anita Lankler and Friends of Jupiter Beach, Jupiter’s
beaches will remain “dog friendly”;
NOW,
THEREFORE, I, Karen J. Golonka, Mayor of the Town of Jupiter, Florida,
hereby issue this proclamation on behalf of the Jupiter Town Council and the
citizens of this community, recognizing and honoring the commitment and civic
spirit of
ANITA LANKLER
And wish to publicly declare this
with pride and gratitude.
